Fantasy Fibers Yarn Company

As the daughter of an Interior Designer, Marissa grew up around colour, balance and aesthetic. Fast forward a bit... While she was getting her doctorate, she was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition, which really started to take a toll on her health. It was during her time stuck at home not feeling well, she discovered knitting, and like many a true fibre enthusiast, she dove in head first.

She immersed herself into the fibre community on Instagram, and discovered the amazing community we all know and love. As soon as she got her first hand-dyed yarn, Marissa knew she needed to dye and has been jotting down ideas ever since.

While living in Victoria, Marissa met Rachael and they became fast fiber friends, bonding over their love of yarn. For their 1-year Friendiversary-a yarn business was started - West Coast Yarn Co. Sadly, after setting up their business venture together, Marissa and her family moved to Calgary, AB and so she started Rocky Mountain Yarn Co. as a sister company, if you will.  As of Summer 2022, RMYC has rebranded to Fantasy Fibers Yarn Co. and let me tell you, if you are a fan of fantasy fiction and fibre, Marissa is your girl!  We couldn't think of a more fitting re-brand than this!!! Fantasy Fibers donates 5% of all sales to the Canadian Wildlife Confederation which is a Canadian non-profit organization that puts its focus toward environmental conservation of our Canadian wildlife, waterbodies and grasslands.
